Senior Portrait Photographer

Senior portraits are an important part of many people's lives. They provide a record of how we look over time and remind us of our accomplishments and milestones in life. But taking senior portrait photos can be challenging. So here are some things to keep in mind when planning your session.

Start with an idea.

Before you even begin searching for photographers, ensure you have a clear idea of what type of photos you want. Do you want candid shots? Portraits? Family pictures? Group shots? It will help you narrow down your search. Stumped on how to make your senior’s pictures stand out? here are some suggestions!

Senior pictures are a time to celebrate the graduating senior in your life, but let's be honest - free time is a precious commodity we have to capitalize on. So if you'd like to make your session more robust by adding family members, then let me know. We can plan a session that will allow you to celebrate your senior AND grab an updated family portrait at the same time while everyone is free.

Think about who will use the pictures.

Once you've decided what kind of photos you're after, you'll need to determine who will use them. Suppose you're planning to share the pictures with friends and family. In that case, consider hiring a professional photographer. However, if you plan to keep the photos private, still hire a professional photographer, but ensure you communicate your desire. Many of my clients love seeing their pictures on my feed and share them with great exhilaration. Let me know what you'd like, and I'll make it happen.

Choose a location.

Think about where you would like to take senior pictures. Is there an area that has special meaning to you? Do you have a favorite spot at home or work? Are there any landmarks nearby that you enjoy visiting? Many of my clients come with a location in mind, and I plan their sessions accordingly. If you don't have a strong feeling toward any particular spot, look through my senior picture gallery and pick your favorite images. From the photos you select, I'll determine what location would suit you best and make some recommendations.

Set up a shoot date.

Once you've decided where you want to take senior pictures, set up a shoot date with your photographer. This will give you plenty of time to make sure everything goes smoothly. If you're taking photographs outside, try to schedule the session during the day so you'll have good lighting. Here, I encourage you to trust your photographer. My favorite days to photograph are sunny days with blue skies. These days provide the most vibrant color for my pictures.
